What is Depression?

Medication Depression or major depressive disorder can be characterized by feelings of sadness, fatigue, low self-esteem, trouble concentrating, hopelessness, and loss of interest and pleasure in normally enjoyed activities. Many people may experience these feelings occasionally, but depressive disorders are persistent and interfere with and everyday life. 

Treatments include cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and medications. The most common antidepressant treatments include SSRIs, SNRIs, atypical antidepressants, tricyclic antidepressants, and MAOIs.
